Thank you for visiting Gardening with TLC
and choosing to read this article, it is a pleasure for me
to provide you excellent written garden
materials.
There are few people that do not enjoy
working in the garden, whether large or
small. Some
people, however, enjoy it much more than others and it
really shows in the type of gardens that they
have.
Throughout these type of gardens, a variety of different
forms of life is available to see but there is
something lurking below the surface that most people are
not aware of. Even before your garden
is planted, when it is simply laying idle it is still a
living organism. The ground itself being full of living
things, both that you can see and also on a microscopic
level.
For
this reason, many people have decided to begin growing
organic gardens. Not only is it healthier
for the earth, it yields fruit that is also healthier for
us. Most people
tend to shy away from making their gardens totally organic
but with just a little bit of TLC, you can be growing
healthy vegetables without a trace of chemicals.
There are really two things that you need
to worry about whenever you're growing an organic
garden, insects and poor environmental
factors. The
insects are relatively easy to take care of, once you
understand how plants react with each other. You should plant
vegetables next to each other that secrete different scents
in order to throw off invading pests. A prime example of this is
planting some marigolds near your tomatoes. Regular soil care by
turning will also decrease the amount of pests that are in
the garden.
Finally, learn to live with a few imperfect looking
vegetables.
Just because they have a blemish or two does not mean that
they have less nutritional value and, in fact, they are
healthier for you.
Proper care of the soil is also
important.
Keeping it aerated through occasional turning of the soil is
only the first part. You also need to make sure
that you are using natural fertilizers and not using
chemicals that could end up on your family's
plate. Rotate
the crops on a regular basis so that you do not deplete the
soil of all of its nutrients. By doing these things you
will affect your immediate environment and the health of
your families.
You will also touch the environment, although very slightly,
on a global scale. By showing the proper
respect for your garden and making it
organic, you are doing yourself and the earth
around you a favor.
